When you come to the USA most of the naturalised citizens call themselves “Americans” and then adding where they came from, or connection to ouside of the USA. In western europe naturalised citizens identifying themselves first by country or origin and then adding they current residency or passport status.

Believe you or not multinational corporations in western europe are still defing salary and benefits by their citizenship, not skills.  It does not only affect truck drivers but financial institutions, oil and gas sector, healthcare.  There is all sort of ugly and beautiful arguments are made, but reality is you could work next to some one, doing the same job and get you pay or benefits defined by your passport.

Most people in western europe do not object, as this discrimination acts in  favour of majority.
